Bridal mendhi is becoming an increasingly popular ingredient in western weddings. Many western brides love the look and lore of mendhi. At left Rachel’s hands show a contemporary style design the day of her wedding. The mendhi was done 2 days before her wedding.
“I can’t thank you enough.. Everyone said it added something special, so thank you again. I think it shows so much of your talent.” - Rachel Nason (Hamilton) |

(At right and below)—Har’s bridal mehndi incorporated some very special design elements. The traditional palanquin within which the bride is carried on her wedding day (dholi), the sikh and muslim religious symbols within the paisleys on her palms denoting the joining of two religions in marriage and some of the designs from her lengha, which all give her customized design a unique look. |

(Below) one of Har’s legs is completed and carries the same design theme as her hands. Religious symbols are never applied to the feet. |

Ayisha (right and below) wanted elements of a design she found on the internet mixed with some freehand work. The grooms initials are disguised in the design on the front of her hands. I hope he found them. Folklore states that the marriage can only be consummated once the groom finds his name or initials within the design. |

The colour of Love The colour of bridal mehndi is very important as folklore states that marital love will be as deep and long-lasting as the colour. At MendhiRani we use premium quality mendhi that leaves long-lasting colour and great memories, with promises of everlasting love.
(Below) The paisley in the middle of the palm is 2 days after application. The remainder of the design is at 1 day after application. We strongly recommend that bridal mehndi is done 2 to 3 days before the wedding. Please read our bridal tips (above) to help care for your designs before and after the application.

Michelle and her bridesmaid Cyndi enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of getting bridal mendhi done in the traditional unrushed way. While lounging in the outdoors under the shade of the giant willow by the lake and sipping authentic Indian chai, both ladies experienced the traditions of an ancient ritual.
"Shelley's beauty as a person is translated into her artistry. The story that she weaves within her intricate mendhi designs is a tapestry of the past that perfectly accentuated my wedding day. - Michelle Townsend (Toronto) |
